In the late eighties, I became the PRO (Public Relations Officer) for Piltown Macra Na Feirme. I soon became Kilkenny county PRO. I did several course and combined with my interest in writing found I had a talent for it.  Over the years I went on the be PRO for Piltown GAA, Piltown Ladies Gaelic Football and Kilkenny County Ladies Gaelic Football. I also developed my own training course for voluntary PRO’s over the years which had started as a small course I gave to Macra branch PRO’s when I was the county PRO.

I believe that PRO can also stand for People Relations Officer and this is as important as the writing or the advertising or reporting.  You need to understand what drives and motivates the people in your audience to be able to properly appeal to the attention.

Feel free to contact me, if you are a voluntary PRO and would like to be coached to be the best you can be.
